In The Citadel (2018)
Two-channel film co-directed with pianist Farid Barron.
In The Citadel is a collaborative film that explores the politics of improvised music. Assembled with Farid’s homemade rehearsal footage, my own notebooks and drawings, and a conversation between the two of us, the film asks what improvised music can do in the highly politicized environment of Philadelphia’s Union League.
